There is one disadvantage to glass: it can break. The large, sharp shards can cause serious injuries. That is why safety glass is increasingly being prescribed and used. It comes in two forms:

• Tempered: upon impact, the glass shatters into thousands of blunt pieces.
• Laminated: an interlayer of foil ensures that only a star or a crack is formed.

Safety glass is mandatory, among other things, if the glass is located between 0 and 85 centimeters from the floor, but also for glass roofs and doors.

With stained glass, the old-fashioned style of a historic building can be recreated. In this way, very little is changed about the appearance of the classic property, while still enjoying the benefits of modern glass.

Historic buildings are often equipped with thin glazing that cannot simply be made thicker. Vacuum glass has the same insulating performance as triple glazing, with a thickness of only about 8 millimeters! This allows the classic window panes to be easily replaced without having to install new window frames.

HR++ insulating glass with one side of laminated safety glass is a laminated glazing with safety glass on the inside. This glass has excellent insulating properties (both in summer and winter). It also offers protection in the event of glass breakage. Should the glass break, it will not fall down in large, loose shards, but will instead stick to the interlayer film(s) in small, broken pieces. Finally, safety insulating glass has a burglar-deterrent effect because the glass is difficult to break through.
